Skoolbo partnering with Fairfax Media Limited

Fairfax Media

We are excited to announce our new partnership with Fairfax Media Limited.

Fairfax shares our dream to have every child learn to read and gain confidence with numbers, and this partnership helps us to achieve that dream.

Partnering with Fairfax, publisher of hundreds of newspapers and websites throughout metropolitan and regional Australia and New Zealand, provides Skoolbo with an enhanced opportunity to connect with even more schools and families, giving children greater access to our learning world and helping them to improve their maths and literacy skills.

Skoolbo's founder, Shane Hill, said: "Skoolbo is thrilled to be partnering with Fairfax Media giving us an opportunity to reach more children, putting us one step closer to achieving the Skoolbo dream".

Guy Reypert, Group Director Fairfax Digital Ventures, said: "We look forward to working with Shane, a proven entrepreneur in online education, to accelerate the growth of Skoolbo and we see numerous ways that our businesses can work together as partners."

There will be more exciting news as this partnership develops in 2015.

Deputy principal Hadleigh Benson puts the school's fantastic result down to his pupils' continued engagement with anytime learning, where children not only learn in class but take learning home with them.

"Parents have been using this app as a way of motivating their child to succeed," says Hadleigh, who reckons it's good to buy into a bit of healthy competition.

"Our students enjoy healthy competition against their brothers, sisters and friends in different classes with learning competitions.

"Updates on which student is performing well across the school is promoted school-wide."

They are currently in the top 12 Schools in the World Cup table-Awesome job!!

Keep up the great work, Mt Maunganui, only 1 and 1/2 days to get those Aussies!!

Raphael's thoughts on Skoolbo:

Skoolbo is a great application that helps children to improve their learning whilst having fun. I use Skoolbo in my classroom on a daily basis as part of my reading and maths tumble. I find it very helpful, as children are always motivated to have a go and without noticing they are improving their learning.

I had students who were not very confident with their basic facts knowledge, times table or take aways and since we've started using Skoolbo they have made huge progress with their maths knowledge. I also had students who spelling weren't their best and they now have made great progress in their spelling.

I really like Skoolbo and I would definitely continue to use in my classroom and also as part of my homework programme. I have had many positive feedback from parents on how they children are so much more engaged with their learning since we've started to use it as part of our homework system. Thanks Skoolbo, I will for sure continue to use you next year in my classroom.

Zippy Shake - new from Skoolbo

Here at Skoolbo we are proud of our mission to secure core literacy and numeracy skills ensuring every child learns to read and become confident with numbers. We also believe passionately in healthy, active children.

We wanted to see how we could bring increased physical activity and music into the classroom - energising the children and getting them ready to learn. We're giving you the chance to be the first to try the new free Zippy Shake game!

Zippy Shake has been designed as a fun and safe dance activity programme for teachers to use on the interactive whiteboard. At approximately two and a half minutes long, it's perfect for a whole range of purposes e.g. moving around in between learning activities, re-focusing the class or as a warm-up for an indoor PE lesson.

If you login in with your teacher account, your students' avatars will be transported into this lively new game. Children will then join together to re-create the moves their avatars make resulting in an exciting whole class interactive dance.

We hope you enjoy playing Zippy Shake with your class. If your students have a much fun as we think they will, send us a short video like the teachers at these schools did:

We love seeing children having fun while they learn.
